Sailing from Cape Cod to Maine - Dolphins, Blackbeard's Honeymoon, the Deer Isles and Ocean Storms

Dolphins surfing the bow wake. Why do I always have the urge to jump down and ride one?
Sailing through the Cape Cod Canal with my parents, heading for a summer in Maine, my favorite cruising grounds.
The Isle of Shoals, off New Hampshire,  a place Blackbeard the pirate visited, and even abandoned a new bride, when he saw British ships approaching to take him captive. The seawall here was built with a bar of gold that was found hidden unervous a rock, maybe by Blackbeard himself.

One of hundreds of beatiful and wild islands of the Maine coast.

Devil's Half Acre Island. Why it's called that I can't imagine,  because it's an island paradise of beauty and natural diversity.
Sunset over the Deer Isles, in  Merchant Row.
Sunset on the Deer Isles.
Out to sea in a small boat, with no one to rely on but yourself.
Lots of time for contemplation on long solo ocean passages.
